A deep cleaning is everything in a standard clean plus the places regular cleanings skip: baseboards and door frames hand-wiped, inside empty cabinets, behind movable appliances, vents, light fixtures and bathroom scale. That extra work is why it takes 1–2 more work hours than a standard clean of the same home.
How much do house cleaners charge per hour in Washington?
Independent cleaners usually charge by the hour. According to Care.com’s Seattle cost page (October 2026), house cleaners listed on its site had an average starting rate of $26.61 per hour and an average maximum of $31.92. At those rates, the 6–8 work hours a 2–3 bedroom deep clean takes us come to about $160–$255 in labor alone.
For companies with staff, wages have a legal floor: Washington’s 2026 minimum wage is $17.13 per hour, before payroll taxes. Standard and recurring prices, and how they compare, are in house cleaning cost in Snohomish and King County. For a line-by-line breakdown of an hourly rate, see why is house cleaning so expensive.
Before
AfterIs deep cleaning priced per hour or flat?
Both exist. We charge by the hour with a written estimate: $120 an hour for the two of us ($60 per person-hour), with a fixed number of hours quoted in writing from your photos. If a job needs more time, we text you before the booked hours are up and continue only with your yes. With open-ended hourly billing, the total simply moves with the clock: a team of two at $31.92 that works 6 hours bills $383, and one more hour makes it $447.
Our $60 per person-hour ($120 an hour for the two of us) is roughly twice the Care.com averages, because it covers more than labor. It includes general liability insurance of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, a city business license in each of our ten cities, a steam cleaner, a vacuum, color-coded microfiber, plant-based products and travel. Our comparison of hourly vs flat-rate house cleaning shows how to put two quotes side by side.
What makes a deep clean cost more?
Every cleaning price comes down to people times hours. Our $360 for 2 bedrooms or $480 for 3 bedrooms is 6–8 work hours, the two of us for 3–4 hours. What moves the number:
- Size, though bathrooms and the kitchen take most of the time. A 2-bedroom home with three bathrooms can take longer than a 3-bedroom home with one.
- Condition. How long since the last thorough clean is the biggest variable. Years of grease on a range hood or heavy shower scale add real time, and we quote it in writing.
- Add-ons: inside the fridge or oven, interior windows, the garage and carpet extraction are priced separately.
- Pets. Heavy shedding adds time on every floor and is a $42 add-on.
- After a renovation, fine drywall dust takes 2–3 times as long; post-renovation cleans are quoted separately.
- After smoke season, fine dust and ash on sills, vents and fixtures add time; see cleaning up after wildfire smoke season.
- Very large homes. Anything bigger than a typical 4-bedroom gets a written quote.
Photos show condition better than square footage does, which is why we price from 2–4 photos rather than a bedroom count alone. If a home turns out to need much more than described, we tell you before we start and you decide.
Some things no deep clean fixes: mold beyond surface mold, water damage, permanent stains, etched glass, sun fading and wear. We refer mold and water damage out.
Why is the first cleaning usually a deep one?
Because a standard clean maintains the level a home is already at. It does not catch up on months of dust on baseboards, grease behind the stove or scale on shower glass. For a home you are selling, the empty-house clean before possession is a different job; see cleaning a house before closing.
So we recommend one deep cleaning first, then standard or recurring visits. Recurring visits have a fixed price per visit: from $270 weekly, $290 every two weeks or $320 monthly for a studio or 1 bedroom. After that, many homes do well with a deep clean every 3–4 months on top of regular visits, or once a year. Read whether deep cleaning is worth it and standard vs deep cleaning for the trade-offs.
What does a $300–$600 deep cleaning include, and what costs extra?
Included in every deep cleaning:
- Everything in a standard cleaning: dusting, floors vacuumed and mopped, kitchen and bathrooms, trash out.
- Baseboards and door frames hand-wiped, including behind furniture we can safely reach.
- Light fixtures and ceiling fans dusted and wiped, up to about 8 feet.
- Inside cabinets and drawers when empty; doors and handles when in use.
- Vents, registers and exhaust grilles vacuumed and wiped.
- The stove pulled out if it rolls, and the fridge wiped behind.
- Bathroom scale treated with steam and an acid-free descaler.
- Visible wall scuffs spot-cleaned, and dishes loaded.
| Add-on | Price |
|---|---|
| Inside the fridge | $56 |
| Inside the oven | $56 |
| Interior windows, tracks and sills, whole house | $86 |
| Garage | $106 |
| Carpet extraction | $59 per room, minimum two rooms |
| Laundry, wash and fold | $46 |
A 2-bedroom deep clean with the fridge and oven comes to $472, and a 3-bedroom one to $592. Our room-by-room deep cleaning checklist lists every task.
How do you get an accurate deep cleaning quote?
Send the details that change the time, and ask the same questions of any company you compare:
- Bedrooms, bathrooms and rough square footage.
- When the home last had a thorough clean.
- 2–4 photos: the kitchen, the main bathroom and the room you worry about most.
- Pets, and how much they shed, plus the add-ons you want.
- Is the price fixed, and what happens if the job takes longer?
- Is there a deposit, who does the work, and can you see the insurance certificate?
Our answers: a written number of work hours at $60 each, a text before any extra time and only with your yes, no deposit, the two owners do the work, and a certificate of insurance on request.
