Daycare Cleaning Services in Snohomish & King County, WA: A Director's Buyer Guide
Daycare cleaning services for directors: WAC 110-300, visit frequency, 2026 prices, what to ask. Snohomish & King County. Text for a written price.
By Yuri and Tatiana, owners of Shining Cleanse LLC, a family cleaning company based in Everett, WA and licensed in 10 cities across Snohomish and King County.
Daycare cleaning services in Snohomish and King County start at $447 for a first visit to a center under 1,500 sq ft, $627 for 1,500–3,000 sq ft and $867 above that. Most centers book 2–5 after-closing visits a week; a good cleaner follows WAC 110-300: EPA-registered disinfectants with dwell time, separated zones and a log for your licensor.
The cleaner you hire is a quiet partner in your DCYF license, so this guide focuses on the questions that matter more than price. Our full scope is on the daycare cleaning service page.
What does WAC 110-300 expect from a daycare cleaner?
WAC 110-300, Washington’s Foundational Quality Standards for Early Learning Programs, sets the sanitation floor for licensed programs. It covers cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting of food-contact surfaces, diapering areas, toilet rooms and mouthed toys, with products used according to their label.
In practice, a cleaner working inside that rule should:
- Use EPA-registered disinfectants and leave them wet for the label dwell time, not spray and wipe
- Keep restroom tools out of food areas, with separate cloths and mops by zone
- Leave a written log and product list on site, in your binder, for licensing visits
The licensor does not audit your cleaner. They audit you. If your provider cannot show a product list and dwell-time practice, that becomes your problem at renewal.
Around children we also use dry steam, 290°F at the nozzle, on hard toys, cubbies and restroom grout, because it leaves no product residue on things children put in their mouths. It does not replace the required disinfectant; see steam cleaning vs chemical cleaning for where each one goes. The surface-by-surface routine is in our daycare cleaning checklist by zone.
How often should a daycare be professionally cleaned?
It depends on enrollment and on how much your staff handles during the day:
- In-home daycare, up to 12 children: 2 visits a week after closing. Staff handle daily wipe-downs.
- Center, 13–30 children: 3 visits a week minimum. Many choose 5.
- Larger centers: every weekday evening, plus a periodic deep clean.
Once a week is not enough for a center with more than 15 children. It leaves six days covered only by in-day wipe-downs, and the restrooms and diapering areas show it by Friday.

For how this compares with offices, retail and clinics, see commercial cleaning costs in the Seattle area.
Why daycare costs more than an office
- Dwell time. EPA-registered disinfectants need 1–10 minutes wet. A cleaner who wipes immediately may clean, but does not disinfect.
- Zone separation, with color-coded microfiber: red for toilets, yellow for bathroom counters, blue for kitchens, green for dusting, washed by color.
- Toy handling: hard toys steamed or washed in bins and returned.
- The log and product list, which take time every visit.
What should a daycare director ask a cleaning company?
- How long does your disinfectant sit before you wipe it? No specific answer means no disinfecting.
- Which products do you use, and can we see the labels and SDS? You want EPA-registered disinfectants where required and low-residue cleaners elsewhere. “Bleach for everything” is a red flag: it needs exact dilution, ventilation and it is hard on surfaces.
- Who actually comes in the evening? With us, it is the two owners, Yuri and Tatiana, every visit. No crews or subcontractors.
- Can you show your insurance and city license? Ask for a Certificate of Insurance. Ours is $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate. A state registration alone is not enough; your city usually requires its own endorsement.
- Will you give a written price before you start? You should get a written per-visit price and scope, and the price on the quote should be what you pay.
We clean daycares in Bothell and our other nine licensed cities in Snohomish and King County.
How do you switch providers without a gap?
- Week 1: you send photos and a floor plan; we ask any questions by text. We note zones, surfaces and your product rules.
- Week 1: written scope and price.
- Week 2: first cleans on your off-days, alongside your current vendor. No service gap.
- Week 3: full takeover once you have seen the result and given the old vendor their notice.
Our jobFAQ
Do you clean while children are in the building?
No. We come after hours: after the last pickup, overnight, or on your day off. Floors are dry and products are put away before morning drop-off.
Can you use the disinfectant our program already uses?
Yes. If your program has standardized on a product, we use it exactly per its label and keep its SDS with the cleaning log, so your licensor sees one consistent product list.
Do the people cleaning have background checks?
The only people who clean are the two owners, Yuri and Tatiana. Both can provide background checks on request, and no one else gets your key, code or alarm details.
How is a daycare invoiced?
Commercial accounts get one monthly invoice, Net 15, listing every visit. A card on file works too.
