Same-Day and Last-Minute House Cleaning: What Is Realistic

Same day house cleaning near me: what a two-owner company can fit on short notice, which jobs need more lead time, and how to ask so it works.

By Yuri and Tatiana, owners of Shining Cleanse LLC, a family cleaning company based in Everett, WA and licensed in 10 cities across Snohomish and King County.

Same-day house cleaning only happens when a company has an open slot that day, so nobody honest can promise it ahead of time. With us, a next-day or same-week visit is often realistic for a standard clean of a small home: 4 to 6 work hours, two of us for 2 to 3 hours. Text photos early and we reply with a written price the same business day.

Below is what fits on short notice, what does not, and how to ask so a last-minute request has the best chance of working.

Can you get a house cleaning the same day?

Sometimes, but it depends on what is already booked that day, not on how much you pay. We are two owners, Yuri and Tatiana, and we do every job ourselves. There is no second crew to send when the calendar is full, so a same-day visit happens only when a day has an open block and your job fits inside it.

Here is what we can say for sure:

  • We reply to texts the same business day, Monday to Friday 9am-7pm and Saturday 9am-5pm. Messages sent after hours get an answer the next morning.
  • Most residential clients are scheduled within a few days.
  • Deep cleans and move-outs usually have same-week availability.
  • We do not book home cleaning on Sundays.

When any company advertises “same-day” booking, read it as “if a slot is open.” The useful question is not whether a company offers it, but how long your particular job is, because that decides whether it can fit into a gap.

What kind of cleaning fits into a short-notice visit?

A standard clean of a small home that is already kept up fits most easily, because it is short and predictable. A work hour is one person working for one hour; we charge $60 per work hour, which shows up as $120 an hour for the two of us. Here are our published packages and how long each one keeps us on site:

JobWork hoursTwo of us on sitePrice
Standard clean, studio or 1 bed4about 2 hours$240
Standard clean, 2 bed5about 2.5 hours$300
Standard clean, 3 bed6about 3 hours$360
Deep clean, studio or 1 bed5about 2.5 hours$300
Deep clean, 3 bed8about 4 hours$480
Deep clean, 4 bed10about 5 hours$600
Move-out clean, 3 bed12about 6 hours$720

A 2-hour job can go into a gap between other visits. A 5 or 6 hour job needs a day with nothing else on it. That is the whole logic of short notice. The standard house cleaning page lists what those 4 to 6 work hours cover room by room.

What does not fit on short notice?

Long jobs and jobs nobody can size from a quick look. The usual ones:

  • A deep cleaning of a 3 or 4 bedroom home, 8 to 10 work hours.
  • A move-out clean of a 2 or 3 bedroom home, 9 to 12 work hours.
  • Homes with 4 or more bedrooms, which we price from photos.
  • A home that has not had a thorough clean in many months. Booked as a standard clean, the visit spends its time on old buildup and still leaves some of it.
  • Fine dust after a renovation, which is quoted separately and takes far longer than ordinary dust.

Add-ons stretch a short visit too: inside the oven or fridge is $56 each, interior windows with tracks and sills $86. On a one-time clean, if the job needs more time than booked, we text you before the time is up and continue only after your yes. On a short-notice day the next hours may already belong to another client, so it is better to book the right length from the start.

If you are not sure which one your home needs, our article on whether deep cleaning is worth it explains the difference in plain terms.

How do you ask for a last-minute cleaning so it actually happens?

Send everything in one text, early in the day. A complete first message saves a round of questions, and on short notice that round can cost you the slot. Text, do not call: we are often on a job and reply in writing.

Checklist for the message:

  1. Your city. We work in Mukilteo, Lynnwood, Bothell, Kirkland, Redmond, Kenmore, Woodinville, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace and Lake Stevens.
  2. Bedrooms and bathrooms.
  3. Standard or deep, or “not sure.”
  4. 2 to 4 photos: kitchen, main bathroom, main living area.
  5. Every day and time window that works, as wide as you can make it.
  6. What matters most if time is short, for example “kitchen and both bathrooms first.”
  7. Access if you will be out, pets, and where to park.

The widest window gets the earliest date. “Any time Thursday or Friday” is far easier to fit than “Thursday at 10.” You can also use the quote form instead of a text.

What can you do if no slot is open in time?

Book the first open date, and cover the gap yourself with a short reset. If guests arrive tonight, 30 minutes on the right things does more than two hours spread thin:

  • Clear and wipe kitchen counters, and run the dishwasher.
  • Wipe the guest bathroom sink, mirror and toilet seat, and put out a clean towel.
  • Pick up the floors in the rooms people will see, then vacuum the entry.
  • Take out the trash and recycling.

Another option is a smaller scope. A one-time visit is priced by work hours with a $240 minimum (4 work hours), so you can ask whether a 4 work hour visit focused on the kitchen and bathrooms fits on an earlier day than a full clean of the house.

If last-minute requests keep happening, a fixed schedule solves it. Recurring visits have a set day and a fixed price per visit, from $290 every two weeks for a studio or 1 bed. Our comparison of weekly vs biweekly house cleaning helps you pick a rhythm.

Is a last-minute cleaning more expensive?

Not with us. We do not add a rush or short-notice fee: everyone pays the same published prices, whether you book a month ahead or for tomorrow. If a fee is not on the written quote, it is not on the bill. You can see every number on our pricing page.

On a one-time clean you pay for the hours we actually work. Finish early, pay less, never under the $240 minimum. Payment is by card or Zelle when the job is done, and we take no deposit for home cleaning.

One rule still applies on short notice: cancel or move a visit with 24 hours notice and there is no charge. A same-day cancellation may carry a 50% holding fee, because the slot was held for you. If your plans are uncertain, say so when you book.

Frequently asked questions

Do you clean houses on Sundays?

No. We book home cleaning Monday to Friday 9am-7pm and Saturday 9am-5pm. A Saturday request sent on Friday can work if the day is open, so it is worth asking.

Can a cleaning be done while I am at work?

Yes. Many clients leave a door code, garage code or lockbox combination, and we lock up after. If you were out, we text photos when we finish so you can see the result before you get home.

Can you do a same-day move-out clean?

It depends on what is already booked that day. A move-out of a 3 bedroom home is 12 work hours, about 6 hours for the two of us, so it needs an empty day. Texting at least 48 hours ahead gives the best chance; see our move-in and move-out cleaning page for what is included.

How fast will I know if you can come?

We reply the same business day during message hours, with a written price and the first date we can offer. If we cannot fit your date, we say so plainly rather than leaving you waiting.
